I’m a big advocate for juicing, but I don’t condone this method to be the only way you take in fruits and vegetables. This is mainly because you lose a lot of the fiber and other nutrients in the juicing process. I do, however, like the fact that you can take in a lot of micro-nutrients that we often miss throughout the day… because who the hell is eating 4 carrots and 3 beets and 5 apples and 2 lemons, etc., per day?! Not me… unless you squish the hell out of it and make them into a delicious juice.
This has been my go-to recipe for juicing lately. It’s a nice pick-me-up after work, before class, or a great way to jump start my metabolism in the morning. I typically always have these ingredients on hand which makes it even more of the perfect go-to juice for me.
Here’s what you’ll need (for 2 servings):
- 6 large carrots
- 6 apples
- 2 inch piece of ginger
- 4 lemons.
Depending on your juicer, you may have to adjust how you add the ingredients. I have a Breville juicer so I just add in the apples, carrots, and ginger on high. Then, I squeeze the lemons over a strainer into the pitcher. Sometimes I’ll add a tsp of turmeric for some extra health benefits.
Mix it up, serve it with a cute straw, and enjoy with a friend! Or drink both by yourself… I won’t tell anyone 😉
